Dear Parent/Guardian,

The school year is over half way completed and we wanted to make sure that all families are aware of the Hudson Area Backpack Program. We realize you could have missed the initial invitation when school started or your financial situation may have changed. The backpack program’s mission is to help families feed their children.

Members of over 10 local churches, in cooperation with the Hudson School District, are offering families in need a backpack of food every weekend. Once a month, we also include a voucher for bread, cheese, eggs, milk, meat, fruit and vegetables that can be redeemed at County Market in Hudson.

Every Thursday your child can stop by either the school office or counselor’s office on their way home. The backpacks will contain breakfast, lunch and dinner items such as cereal, muffin mixes, granola bars, peanut butter, spaghetti noodles and sauce, hearty soups, and canned fruit.

After unpacking the bag on Thursday evening, PLEASE RETURN IT IMMEDIATELY THE NEXT DAY. In the past we’ve had trouble getting the backpacks returned for refilling.

If you wish to participate in the program, fill out the form on this link and submit it as soon as possible. You only need to complete one form per family. This is a confidential program. Volunteers who assemble the backpacks will not know the names of the recipients.

We are a 501c3 tax-exempt charitable organization and we maintain Charitable Organization Registration in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. We have received the Bronze Participation Level recognition from GuideStar.
